The Wakandi and Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) partnership launch was held at Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel on 25th April 2024 at Serena Hotel. Wakandi Tanzania commenced its work with TAMFI in 2022 with the objective of digitization of the Microfinance Industry. Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) as a non-profit umbrella organisation for microfinance institutions in Tanzania. One of its role is to emphasis on digital transformation to its members. Wakandi is a software company that provides digital financial systems for cooperatives. Wakandi offices are continental so far located in Uganda, Kenya, Gambia, South Africa and Tanzania. Wakandi has developed an app and given it the name, The Wakandi App. This App is designed to offer formal financial services to cooperatives and microfinance institutions in Africa. The App offers support in digitalization of savings and loan management, making daily operations precise, secure and swift.
Mr. Richard Sinamtwa, Board Chairperson of Wakandi Tanzania, identified that Wakandi is a company that turns problems into solutions, a journey which is recognized by uniting SACCOS, a solution that evolves from SACCOS to Microfinance and a company that produces end game products which leaves a mark on the society.
Ms. Winnie Terry CEO of Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) spoke to member institutions at the launch reminding them that since all Microfinance Institutions are regulated by the Bank of Tanzania (BoT), digital transformation by Microfinance Institutions is inevitable.
