On 22nd November 2024, TAMFI hosted the WSS Stakeholders Partnership Event under the theme “Linkages in Water Supply and Sanitation/Hygiene Solutions” at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The gathering brought together diverse stakeholders, including local government representatives, water authorities, WSS technology suppliers, financial institutions, NGOs and TAWASANET, to foster collaboration in advancing water and sanitation solutions across Tanzania.
The event began with insightful contributions from TAWASANET and TAMFI, outlining the current state of water and sanitation in Tanzania and the impact of the WCAD Program interventions emanating from the different linkage models used by diverse WSS stakeholders. These presentations provided a foundation for discussions, highlighting challenges and opportunities in ensuring community access to innovative solutions and technologies.
Dr. Astronaut Bagile, CEO of WISE, delivered a powerful keynote address emphasizing the role of social enterprises in delivering innovative, community-centered solutions. This was followed by an engaging panel discussion led by a highly decorated microfinance expert and three other panelists from the WSS and microfinance sectors. The panel explored practical strategies for leveraging linkages, technology, and financial models to enhance community outreach and impact.
Participants concluded the event with a consensus on actionable steps to strengthen partnerships, expand access to solutions, and drive sustainable change in the sector. TAMFI committed to steering the agreed initiatives forward, ensuring the outcomes of the event translates into measurable impact.
