High – Impact Financial Services and Investment Clinic for Women and Youth Entrepreneurs

Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), held a grand and high impact Financial Services and Investment Clinic for Women and Youth Entrepreneurs at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The two day clinic which ran from 29th to 30th April 2025 was well attended by enthusiastic and anxious women who were ready to explore the availability of financial products and services.  More than 250 women were in attendance from all corners of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Not only that, a number of women who could not attend physically, participated online.

The clinic, which carried the theme “Money Matters Powering Progress Through Inclusion”           aimed at improving  the women’s financial literacy levels and more specifically in understanding what is available in the financing space.

The Executive Director of TWCC, Dr. Mwajuma Hamza, in her opening statement, explained business opportunities within TWCC including information sharing, training and capacity building, advocacy, linkages and networking among the business

CPA Mercy Silla, the Board Chairperson of TWCC, in her opening key remarks, started by saying that experience shows that women are still lagging behind in accessing financial services. She said it is high time women track on a general  understanding on available opportunities such as Twende Sokoni and Bid for Success that target at exposing women to AfCFTA and therefore participate in the tender processes.

Parallel to financial literacy classes which were offered by prominent financial educators, the participants had an opportunity to witness Business pitching competition. Six women entrepreneurs presented their cases in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry, education, weaving and food cooking. Veronica Namara, who works hand in hand with her husband, won the competition. They are owners of a fish farm in Dodoma.

The clinic proved to be a great success. The women and youth participants received education on financial matters, and had a chance to meet and learn from several institutions that participated in the event. Institutions that were present included BOT, SIDO, DSE, TAMFI, Vodacom, Tausi and PASS Leasing. Banks and financial institutions present included NMB, TCB, Absa Bank, Azania Bank, Mwanga Hakika Bank, Platinum, and Watu Credit.
