In the new year 2026, TAMFI has continued on its financial literacy journey. This was witnessed through TAMFI’s participation as a member of the Secretariat of the National Financial Services Week (19th – 26th January 2026) event hosted annually by the Ministry of Finance. The theme of the week centred on Financial Literacy that said Financial Literacy, the Foundation for Economic Development. TAMFI represented its members by having a booth where they had the opportunity to promote the association to the Financial Institutions in Tanga Region at the Usagara Grounds. TAMFI also participated in delivering Financial Literacy topics to organized groups of women, men and youth throughout the week. These topics included Personal Finance Management, Savings and Loans. Over 500 youth and women were reached directly from the capacity building given by TAMFI in Tanga.
Opportunities to provide financial literacy to Tanzanians were again seized in February 2026. The main participants were VSLAs made up of youth, women and men traders categorized as low- and middle-income traders of Kigwe and Bahi districts, Dodoma. 100 traders were reached in 2 days. Capacity was built on Savings, Loans, Budgeting, Record Keeping, all at individual and group level.
TAMFI has developed a unique model for delivering Financial Literacy to Tanzanians by reaching out to institutions with pipelines for partnerships. This has helped us to reach those who do not otherwise pay for the capacity building if asked to pay a fee. So no one will be left out with this methodology because those who would not be reached are now being reached. TAMFI looks forward to more partnerships of this nature as it delivers Financial Literacy to Tanzanians.
