On 10th March 2026, Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity (TAWAH), in collaboration with the Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI), conducted a transformative financial literacy training for women builders at Muhaga Village, Kisarawe District in the Coastal Region of Tanzania.
The training was designed to strengthen financial literacy among students enrolled in builders’ courses, equipping them with the skills needed to manage personal finances and successfully implement entrepreneurial projects upon graduation.Participants engaged in interactive sessions covering:
- Personal Money Management: budgeting, savings discipline, and loan management
- Entrepreneurship: practical skills to plan and execute business initiatives
The program enabled women builders to:
- Gain a foundational understanding of saving, budgeting, and planning for future financial needs
- Learn how to prepare and implement simple budgets
- Understand loans, their benefits, and potential drawbacks to make informed borrowing decisions
- Learn that a great entrepreneur is someone who combines vision, discipline, resilience, and adaptability to turn ideas into sustainable businesses.
This initiative goes beyond financial training, it is about empowering women to take control of their futures. By equipping builders with financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills, TAWAH and TAMFI are laying the foundation for sustainable livelihoods, stronger communities, and inclusive economic growth.
As these women complete their builders’ courses, they will not only construct physical structures but also build resilient financial futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. The training is a powerful reminder that when women are empowered with knowledge, they become architects of both homes and hope
