In March 19, 2026, the Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity (TAWAH) and the Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) formalized a strategic collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration at the TAWAH Vocational Training Centre (TAWAH VTC), where women enrolled in building and construction courses will now benefit from structured financial education alongside their technical training. The initiative recognizes that sustainable empowerment requires more than technical skills—it demands financial confidence, entrepreneurial vision, and access to inclusive economic opportunities. The partnership will deliver:
i. Structured training modules on financial literacy, book keeping, savings, responsible borrowing, and entrepreneurship.
ii. Workshops, seminars, and business clinics to provide practical exposure and hands-on learning.
iii. Mentorship and advisory services for selected trainees, ensuring personalized guidance.
iv. Contextualized training materials tailored to the realities of women in the building sector.
By combining vocational training with financial literacy, TAWAH and TAMFI are addressing a critical gap in women’s participation in the construction industry. The initiative equips women not only to build structures but also to build sustainable businesses, manage resources responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to community development.
