Members of TAMFI got a rare opportunity to participate in a special meeting with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Budget in Dodoma, on 28 April 2026.
Members of TAMFI gave professional views on the Movable Property Security Rights Act, 2026 (Muswada wa Sheria ya Mikopo kwa Dhamana za Mali Zinazohamishika 2026).
We believe this Bill will stimulate innovation, and strengthen the business environment for entrepreneurs and small scale traders in the country. The Bill directly addresses the structural barrier that has denied credit to millions of Tanzanians who own productive assets, livestock, equipment, inventory, motorcycles but cannot use them as collateral under the existing legal framework.
TAMFI is very grateful to the Honorable Chairman of the Budget Committee, Mashimba Mashauri Ndaki, and all the members of the Budget Committee for engaging us and sharing their views on how best to strengthen the Bill. TAMFI supports this legislation wholeheartedly and offers our membership’s field experience while serving millions of borrowers. What we shared are precision adjustments to ensure smooth implementation of the bill and future regulations.
On the same note, The Board of Directors of TAMFI had the privilege to pay a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Honorable Daniel Sillo Baran at his office, Dodoma.
We extend our sincere thanks, Honorable, for your warm hospitality and the insightful discussion on advancing the microfinance sector and our country at large.
