Branch staff from Financial Institutions, including Loan Supervisors and Loan Officers, recently participated in a two-day Training on Credit Management Excellence held at GR Hotel from 22-23 October 2026.
The training brought together professionals from Financial Institutions across the Southern Highlands Zone with the primary objective of strengthening credit management practices
Throughout the intensive program, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in key areas of credit operations, including credit policies and procedures, client assessment and responsible lending, and loan monitoring and recovery techniques. The sessions emphasized the importance of maintaining high lending standards, conducting thorough client evaluations, and implementing effective strategies to manage portfolio quality.
Facilitators guided participants through practical discussions and real-life case studies that enabled loan officers and supervisors to better understand risk management principles and the critical role of responsible lending in ensuring sustainable financial services. The training also highlighted proactive loan monitoring approaches and recovery techniques aimed at maintaining healthy loan portfolios and minimizing credit risk.
Beyond strengthening professional competencies, the training served as an important platform for networking and knowledge sharing among Financial Institutions operating within the Southern Highlands region. By bringing practitioners together, the initiative contributed to the ongoing efforts to strengthen the TAMFI Southern Highlands Zonal Chapter and promote greater cooperation among member institutions.
Participants expressed appreciation for the practical nature of the sessions, noting that the knowledge gained will enhance their ability to make informed credit decisions, support clients responsibly, and contribute to the growth and stability of their institutions.
As part of its broader capacity-building agenda, TAMFI will extend the same training to Financial Institutions in the Central Zone. The next session is scheduled to take place at Dodoma City Hotel, Dodoma, from 12-13 November 2026, providing another opportunity for Loan Supervisors and Loan Officers to strengthen their credit management skills and share experiences with peers from across the region.
The training reflects the continued commitment of TAMFI to building a skilled workforce of Financial Institutions capable of driving financial inclusion, safeguarding portfolio quality, and delivering sustainable financial services to communities across Tanzania.
