General Members
General members are MFIs legally registered in Tanzania and directly involved in the provision of savings and
credit instruments to micro and small enterprises for business purposes.
PRIDE Tanzania
PRIDE-Tanzania aims to create a sustainable financial and information services
network for micro- and small-scale entrepreneurs to increase incomes and
employment and stimulate business growth.
Associate Members
Associate members are organizations or institutions which, though not directly involved in the provision of
microfinance, are involved in microfinance as donors or direct providers of products/services to MFIs.
Youth Self Employment Foundation (YOSEFO)
YOSEFO is a Dar Es Salaam-based NGO that provides microfinance services to poor
Tanzanian entrepeneurs.
Access Bank Tanzania, Ltd.
AccessBank Tanzania Ltd is a new commercial bank set up in Tanzania with a special
focus on microfinance.
Akiba Commercial Bank
AKIBA Commercial Bank commenced operations in August 1997 as an initiative of
over 300 Tanzanian entrepreneurs. The group’s vision and mission was to support the
emergence of Tanzanian businesses through the provision of financial services at all
levels, by a Tanzanian-owned commercial bank that understood Tanzanians and was
committed to Tanzania.
Women's Economic Groups Coordinating Council (WEGCC)
WEGCC is a grassroot membership organisation with a mission to improve socio-
economic status of vulnerable women in their communities through their education,
economic empowerment, and promotion of gender equity.
Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA)
SEDA was initiated by World Vision Tanzania as a pilot project in 1995, with the
objective of improving the socio-economic and health status of households in poor
communities through the development of micro-enterprises owned primarily by women.
Mama Bahati Foundation (MBF)
Mama Bahati Foundation is a microfinance NGO founded in 2006 that provides credit to
microbusinesses and promotes entrepeneurship in the Iringa region of Tanzania.
Dar es Salaam Community Bank, Ltd.
The Dar es Salaam Community Bank is a private microfinance bank dedicated to
financing poverty alleviation programmes, aimed at uplifting the standard of living of the
majority of low income people in Dar es Salaam.
Mufindi Community Bank
Mufindi Community is a regional bank providing microfinance services in the area
surrounding Mufindi, Iringa Region, Tanzania.
Mwanga Rural Community Bank, Ltd.
Mwanga Community Bank is a regional bank providing microfinance services in area
surrounding Mwanga, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.
Small Entrepreneurs Loan Facility Project (SELF)
The Small Entrepreneurs Loan Facility (SELF) project is a wholesale microfinance
lending project jointly funded by the Tanzanian Government and the African
Development Bank which provides funds to MFIs and similar organizations.
Presidential Trust Fund (PTF)
The Presidential Trust Fund was established in 1984, originally as a government
initiative to bring into the mainstream the economic activities of the disadvantaged
groups of people, women and youth in particular.
Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO)
SIDO is a project of the Tanzanian government that aims to create and sustain a
indigenous entrepreneurial base by providing small and medium enterprises (SME's)
with business development services and specific financial services on demand.
Mbinga Community Bank, Ltd. (MCB)
Mbinga Community Bank is a registered regional bank committed to using
microfinance services to promote economic development and resource mobilization in
Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region in the southwest of Tanzania.
