Branch Basics database
Branch Basics is a free database designed to help small microfinance institutions (or branches of
larger MFIs) to organize and monitor their finances. The database is a Microsoft Access file, so any
organization with a copy of Access 2000 or later can use Branch Basics without having to install any
software. Branch Basics was designed by the Youth Self Employment Foundation (YOSEFO) of Dar
es Salaam, Tanzania.
The database is designed for simplicity and ease-of-use. It is a good choice for organizations or
branches with a single computer or less than 5,000 clients.
This database is being offered as freeware. Since the file can be easily edited using Microsoft
Access, please feel free to make improvements to the software. If you would like to post an updated
version of the database to this website, please send an email to database@tamfi.com. We warmly
welcome any improvements to the database so that it can be of more use to MFIs in Tanzania and
beyond.
